Stage 1 Fire Restrictions are in Effect in the City
No smoking on FUTS trails, at Buffalo Park and on or near the Thorpe & McPherson Disc Golf Courses.
All fire-pits or other open flame (ex: Chimayo) devises – even those which have a spark arrestor in-place are banned within the City of Flagstaff. The use of charcoal grills and other devises which have an on-off switch are still permitted.
Violations of these regulations is punishable as a Class B misdemeanor, by a fine of not more than $5000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, or imprisonment for not more than six (6) months or both; 16 USC § 551, and 18 USC §§ 3559 and 3571.
Although “on or near the Thorpe & McPherson Disc Golf Courses” is a little vague on where you can smoke, I would say that in the parking lot at least 100ft away from dry land, preferably in your vehicle.
Let’s not cause an incident and please don’t make me disqualify anyone!
