The Northern Arizona University Disc Golf Course was designed in 2001 by FDGC club members, especially Chris Gibbs and James Willis. On the university end of things, Jake Epps was instrumental in getting through all the red tape to make this course happen!
The course was originally on the south part of campus between maintenance facilities and south family housing. Due to the installation of an acre-sized solar project, the course was moved south of the family housing around the south fields. After the massive south field expansion, the course was redesigned even further, affectionately now referred to as NAU 3.0
The NAU 3.0 course showcases unique technical holes with lots of elevation change and lots of trouble if a player throws outside the fairway. Signature holes include elevated greens and interesting out-of-bounds.
Spectacular views of the San Francisco Peaks, rock-lined and wood-chipped paths between holes as well as facilities at the gazebo near the fields add to the grandeur of the course.
