Welcome to the First Annual Highlander Classic Disc Golf Tournament

Presented By Findlay Toyota Flagstaff and Peace Surplus

This year’s tournament will be at Fort Tuthill and Thorpe Disc Golf Courses in a Scotch Doubles Format. Two rounds plus a Putting Contest. And we’ll have friendly singles / match play after the festivities.

We plan on having a swap meet, lunch sponsors, and tons of cash and prizes for payouts, CTPs, Raffles, and more!

This is an unsanctioned event. So no holds barred! Just kidding, we want to keep this fun and to make a positive impact on our community and the sport of disc golf.

We’re going to keep safe, follow the City and County required Covid guidelines, respect Forest Service fire restrictions, and follow PDGA guidelines for payouts.

We’ll handle the payouts and trophies immediately following the final round Sunday.

The Ace Pot will be distributed with the payout if not hitawarded during tournament play.

The two-meter rule will NOT be in effect. Smoking is not permitted on the courses.  City and County policies prohibit smoking on their parks and property.

Flagstaff is 7,000 feet in elevation. The courses are in rugged terrain and weather can change abruptly from warm, clear skies to cool, rainy, cloudy conditions. The average daytime high temperature in October is about 62oF, with a low near freezing.  Morning rounds will likely be cool; afternoon rounds should be much warmer.  Players should acclimate themselves to elevation, hydrate before, during, and after their rounds, wear sturdy footwear, and bring extra clothing for changing conditions.  We could have rain, so be sure to bring an umbrella.

Both courses are on multiple-use facilities. All players are required to extend courtesy not only to other players, but especially to other users of the parks (littering and vulgar language are considered as courtesy violations).

This is a modified alternate shot “Scotch Doubles”. Literally Alternate Shot, but continuous, throughout the entire round. You choose who starts, but it’s every other after that. Example: Player A drives, Player B takes the up shot, Player A misses the putt, Player B finishes, Player A is Driving again on the next hole. Pick Your Partner Wisely.

There will be 51 holes of Doubles Golf, a Putting contest, plus friendly singles round after the contests.

We will be following the 2019 PDGA Pro Worlds Putting Competition with 9 Holes at Thorpe and 3 stations per hole.

Scoring will be 1 point for Station 1, 2 Points for Station 2, and 3 Points for Station 3. A perfect score for each hole will total 6 points.

Each player can take a second attempt at a missed putt, but a second missed put will result in -1 points.  Three missed putts with three missed ‘put backs’ would result in a -3 for that hole.

Sample of the 2019 Worlds Putting Competition.

Players can enter the ace pool for $5.00. If you did not sign up for the acepool when you registered, you can sign up when you check-in.  Ace pool will apply to all rounds of competition.  If no ace is hit, all of the Ace Pool will be donated to the supported charities.

Your safety is our safety.  For the most part, we will follow PDGA guidance on Covid safety (https://www.pdga.com/pdga-documents/tour-documents/requirements-and-best-practices-pdga-sanctioned-play-during-covid-19).  We will follow all local city, state, and county rules related to Covid.

All players will be required to follow these guidelines.  Facemasks must be worn at all times during the following: check-in, awards ceremonies, and when a 6-foot distance cannot be maintained.  We will provide all players with facemasks.  We will have hand sanitizer available for player and staff use.  Please do not touch other players discs or equipment.

Any player who is sick and exhibits Covid-related symptoms will not be allowed to play.

Caddies and spectators will be allowed.

All scoring will be done using the UDISC Live electronic scoring application.  This means that somebody on each card must have a cell phone to keep score.  To avoid possible spread of Covid, the phone should be handled ONLY by the person keeping score. We recommend that a second person also keep score using Udisc or a paper scorecard.  We will have paper scorecards available on each course.  If it is discovered that the score recorded on UDISC is incorrect, the error must be brought to the attention of the course official or tournament director within 1 hour of completing the round.    You will need to go to the UDISC Live scoring to check scores.

Will will have the following divisions:
